Wooden bird house kits are the most popular types of bird houses on the market today since they are simple to construct in most cases and are fairly inexpensive. These wooden bird house kits can also be used with children’s groups since they do not require many tools besides a hammer or screwdriver, and the directions are usually simple enough for a child of seven to follow. There are bluebird house kits that are made especially for that species of bird, since they have certain requirements that other birds do not have. These wooden bird house kits are often made of cedar wood since that will help to deter insects in the bird house. There are other bird houses made of all different types of wood as well to create whatever style the individual wants to create with the bird house.
Options For Wooden Bird House Kits
There are often three types of wooden bird house kits on the market today. There are single family bird houses, multifamily birdhouses and bird feeder kits. These kits all have some of the same features in them, but there are some stylistic differences between them. The single wooden birdhouse kits are usually the simplest to construct since it is basically a small box with a hole in the front of it and some ventilation and drainage space in the top and bottom. These kits usually have a simple wooden roof that is slanted slightly to allow the water to drain from the roof of the birdhouse. There is also usually a plank of wood at the back of the birdhouse that allows it to be attached to the tree or post where it will hang for the birds to nest in it.
The multifamily wooden birdhouse kits are a little more complex. Instead of having a single piece of wood for the roof of the house, the roof now has to be composed of at least two pieces so that it can slope to either side of the house. There are also several entrances at front so that multiple birds can go into it at one time and have separate places to make their nests. This birdhouse also has a flat back to it so that it can easily be hung on a tree or on a post so that the birds can perch nearby when they are nesting. It also keeps the birds close to the nesting materials so that they do not have to fly as far when building the nests.
